January Blockchain Funding Recap

  • Last month, nearly $631 million in venture capital was allocated across 125 blockchain-related funding deals, which equates to the lowest amount allocated to the sector since January 2021 ($348 million). 
  • Nearly half of the capital that was injected into crypto businesses last month, or roughly 48% of it was toward companies at a Seed or Pre-Series A level
  • A noticeable uptick in Web3 funding occurred, with social networks and social wallets being the primary theme
  • The recent uptick in funding deals and price appreciation of digital assets are early signs that we may be closer to a reversal in funding activity, as opposed to more major drop-offs
